"Hope Survives"
Not a whole lot to say about this page. It's "just" Elijah providing an ever-shifting look at his character's emotions (which would certainly be shifting during this time). But that's enough, isn't it? In all seriousness, after following Leo through these final scenes, I'd think that calling Elijah "that kid from Deep Impact" should be understood as a compliment.
As the camera pulls out, we're reminded again of this movie's weakness. It's not the acting, or the cinematography, or even the basic premise or the broad outlines of the three storylines. It's the pieces that don't make sense (and could have been "fixed" without too much trouble), such as: We're on high ground near a major metropolitan area with millions of inhabitants. The top of this hill should be packed with people--where is everybody? (Well, we know where they are--but why?) It's too bad that Elijah's storyline had to be the one to suffer from this problem the most.
