Together Again
Leo takes off the helmet and reverts to looking like a teenager.
Although this scene is set in Virginia, it was shot in California, which makes sense. Where else would you have this huge mass of people who refuse to leave their cars and run when their lives depend on it? Are they afraid someone's going to steal their tape decks?
I'll admit to a bit of fear that someone's going to make off with that motorbike, all things considered (such as impending doom). I don't know why Leo leaves it so far away instead of riding it back to Sarah.
Running a bit like Mikey here...
Because we try to provide for the needs of those involved in various subspecialties of elwoodian acting research, here's a fairly detailed look at the kiss:
The lead-in doesn't look too bad, especially considering the awkward position (is she knocking him over backward or is he pulling her down towards him?).
But I think both Elijah and his leading ladies will be glad when he gets more roles in which the character is supposed to be a good kisser...
Poor Leo has the desperation of Barney and the lack of experience of Casey...
That's okay, kids. You have your whole lives to practice--which won't be very long if you don't get moving!
Yeah, I think we're better off with the hug...
A nice little touch: Remember that Leo's wearing his father's watch; from this angle, we can see it's a bit too big for him.
I like the way the "height thing" is played throughout the movie. There's never any specific attention called to Sarah being a bit taller than Leo, and both of the hugs on this page are exactly right and natural for that situation--again, without directly calling attention to it. (The kiss would need more practice no matter what their heights!)
The following frame seems to be the origin of the picture used on the front of the VHS and DVD, although in that pic Leo's right arm is over Sarah's hair:
