Top Ten Comeback Lines from LotR
The challenge has been answered! A good (well, by "Man's" standards, anyway) comeback line has been found in which neither speaker is a hobbit! Here it is:
No longer do I desire to be a queen.
--That is well, for I am not a king.
Should this replace one of the original top ten listed below? Use the feedback button at the bottom of the page to send your opinion.

10. Maybe Mr. Baggins has an honest reason for leaving his name behind; but if so, I should advise him and his friends to be more careful.
--Mr. Strider may have an honest reason for spying and eavesdropping; but if so, I should advise him to explain it.
9. But this one was walking, I tell you; and there ain't no elm tree on the North Moors.
--Then Hal can't have seen one.
8. And was it Saruman that ordered you to guard his damaged doors, and watch for the arrival of guests, when your attention could be spared from plate and bottle?
--No, good sir, the matter escaped him. He has been much occupied.
7. I cannot sleep on a perch!
--Then dig a hole in the ground, if that is more after the fashion of your kind. But you must dig swift and deep, if you wish to hide from Orcs.
6. But it is said: Do not meddle in the affairs of Wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger. The choice is yours: to go or wait.
--And it is also said: Go not to the Elves for counsel, for they will say both yes and no.
5. Baggins has left... If he passes, will you tell me? I will come back with gold.
--No, you won't. You'll go back where you belong, double quick. I give you one minute before I call all my dogs.
4. You're breaking arrest, that's what you're doing, and I can't be answerable.
--We shall break a good many things yet, and not ask you to answer.
3. [Following Lobelia's "You're no Baggins... you're a Brandybuck."] Did you hear that, Merry? That was an insult, if you like.
--It was a compliment, and so, of course, not true.
2. I don't want to answer a string of questions while I am eating. I want to think!
--Good heavens! At breakfast?
1. Very well, Mr. Baggins. But don't forget I've arrested you.
--I won't. Never. But I may forgive you.

Do you have any additions? If so, please email me. Let me know if/how you want to be identified if your suggestion is used. A suggestion must be a direct quote from LotR (the book).
Also, let me know if you think the "new" all-human entry at the top of the page should take the place of any of the original top ten. Do Hobbits still rule, or is the Age of Man dawning?
An extra challenge: can anyone find another good comeback in LotR in which neither of the speakers is a hobbit? (We've gotten one. Are there any more?)
