Vulnerability
Whenever we saw Frodo with these slightly parted lips, they always seemed to me to be used to emphasize innocence. We don't see them often with Jonathan. As far as I've noticed, this scene is the only extended use of them in the movie, and it's causing me to rethink my interpretation. Perhaps not so much innocence as vulnerability. There were many times when Frodo's vulnerability was emphasized. Jonathan, on the other hand, doesn't allow himself to become vulnerable very often (is it coincidental that he has his top shirt button open and his tie slightly loosened in this scene?).
