Since I've written some comments on LotR/TTT, I figured it was time to try to gather some thoughts about this one. But I'm finding that to be easier said than done. Let's just say it has its faults, but I wouldn't realize that if I hadn't read the book (well, even then I might have grated at that "You shall beeee..." line from Elrond). Since the day his casting was announced, I've been telling everyone how perfect Elijah is for the role of Frodo - in fact, that was the genesis of this movie list - and I'm not taking a word of it back. The movie's amazing. Elijah's acting is amazing. For more amazing scenes, check out the extended edition DVD that was released in November 2002.
